Delicious and refreshing Apple Cider blended with Soda, fruits and fresh mint.
Summer is not here yet and temperatures in Canada are as low as -5 degrees outside! Add the windchill and its almost -19 degrees but that should not stop us from enjoying an icy cold drink loaded with fresh fruits and topped with mint sprigs. Saudi Champagne is what it is called and is a non-alcoholic drink that is a favourite in Saudi Arabia. It welcomes you in any restaurant that you go to- a pitcher of freshness that is a magic mixture of apple juice, Seven Up, thin slices of fruit and fresh mint. When you read the title, you would be puzzled since “Saudi” and “Champagne” are two words that do not go together but this drink is totally non-alcoholic and is widely used for celebrations across the kingdom.
The apples in Saudi Champagne lend their beautiful green color to the juice and the oranges add a wonderful fruity sweetness. The double dose of mint makes this Sparkling Apple Cider extra refreshing. So why buy a bottle of Sparkling Apple Cider when you can make one at home in under 10 minutes?? Fresh Sparkling Apple Cider is way better than the bottled stuff. You can use a juicer to make fresh apple juice but you can also use apple juice from concentrate. Saudi Champagne is bright, colorful, tastes heavenly and is a good substitute to soft drinks.
To make a refreshing Saudi Champagne totally wow your thirsty guests, use good quality ingredients: fresh mint and juicy citrus as well as good quality apple juice. I do love a SIMPLE idea that is such a crowd-pleaser. Give it a try at your next gathering and I can practically guarantee a happy crowd. This can be made and served immediately but I prefer it to be allowed to stand before adding the Seven Up so that the flavors of mint, oranges and apples are allowed to infuse well to give you this lovely refreshing drink.
