Laban bil Thoum, the Arabic word for Yogurt Garlic Sauce, is a cool and creamy sauce that is perfect with mujadara, dolma (stuffed vine leaves), grilled chicken as well as chicken shawarma. Made with only three fresh ingredients, laban bil thoum is a flavorful dip. Yogurt garlic sauce’s main ingredients are yogurt, garlic, dried mint and salt. It is similar to the popular Greek tzatziki sauce. The yogurt is traditionally made fresh and strained from goat’s milk which is creamier than cow’s milk.
We have this yogurt garlic sauce as a common appetizer during hot days and during spring time but can be enjoyed any time of the year. - 1 cup plain yogurt
- 3-4 garlic gloves crushed
- Dried mint
- Fresh mint for garnish
- Salt to taste
- Mix all above ingredients in a bowl and whisk together.
- Pour into small bowl and garnish with fresh mint leaves
